Why so much emphasis on Demographics over the coming investment years?

So, we all think about the growth of the middle class in China and India when thinking about our investment strategies. True, these two countries are most promising in near future economic growth. But consider the forecast of a world population of 11 billion this century - the bulk of which is in Africa.  China is 'only' 1.4 billion today with a stagnation in population growth. So Africa, and the world overall, is to count nearly 5 billion more people over the long term. Does the next century belong to China and India, or does it belong to Africa?

The impact of China's 1.4 billion, especially when combined with India is enormous on our world economy. What would be the impact of another 5 billion people be?
